Adam Sandler-Core is Taking Over TikTok

TikTok has become the sole app where trends of every kind are born, especially fashion trends. Yet the best kept secret that teenagers and TikTokers have been keeping from all of us is Adam Sandler-Core. It's not only an aesthetic but has been described as an overall "vibe". In fact, it's one we should all be gravitating to this summer (and always). Wondering what Adam Sandler-Core is? If you are already a fan of Sandler, you know that the actor and comedian is known for being extremely down to earth, casual, and always dresses for comfort. Unlike every other celebrity, he doesn't care what his peers or the public thinks about his fashion sense and takes almost zero pride in his outward appearance. That is just one of the many reasons why he is so beloved and has been dubbed a fashion icon by GenZ.

Besides being known as a successful funny man and creator of some of the best comedies of the 90's and 2000's (50 First Dates, anyone?) Sandler is always seen wearing outfits that are as relaxed and practical as possible. He rarely wears a suit and tie or even denim besides when he is attending red carpet events. What he does wear when photographed out in public are oversized polos and graphic t-shirts, baggy sweatpants, basketball shorts, short Uggs booties, or bulky tennis shoes with high white socks. That's really all there is to it. It's the mix of the ultimate dad look that has become trendy in recent years but instead exudes a confidence that happens only when someone defies the fashion norm. His looks can all be found at anywhere online, at thrift stores, Walmart, anywhere. His style is accessible and simple, which makes it easy for anyone to love and follow.

TikTok and Pinterest have been quietly creating a community of Adam Sandler-Core like-minded individuals. Even popular creators on TikTok like Tinx has stated her style has some Adam Sandler style elements mixed in to it. It's akin to Billie Eilish's era of baggy and shapeless clothes, but as one meme put it, Adam Sandler walked so Billie Eilish could run. TikTok has become a platform where satire, parody, and sarcasm runs through most of its popular videos. Gen Z's humor can be described as dead-pan and calling things "iconic" even when it's clearly unattractive or seen as uncool. One creator even had a party with her friends dressed in an array of different Adam Sandler inspired looks in an unironic way. If you scroll through Pinterest, you can find hundreds of boards dedicated to "Adam Sandler-Core", "Adam Sandler Streetwear", "Adam Sandler Fits", and "Adam Sandler Aesthetic". His style has become tons of young women's outfit goals.

Adam Sandler-Core has a cult following, and its followers mostly includes mega fans of the actor and those who reject popular fashion trends. They are people who appreciate staying comfortable yet enjoy having a grungy and chic edge. It's a rebellion against the designers and celebrities who push styles that are often trendy yet leave you immobile due to the tight clothing or material, which is what Adam Sandler-Core is completely against. It's a stand against having the sterotypical "hot girl summer" look and creating your own. And while Y2K fashion may be trending, most people still haven't left leisure wear in 2020--another reason why this aesthetic works so well.

Last year, Pete Davidson told PopSugar he took fashion inspo from his idol Adam Sandler because of the simplicity and comfort of his looks. Since Pete Davidson is such a huge hit with young women, it was seen as endearing and again, iconic. With Adam Sandler still having such a huge following, only he could refuse to wear anything mildly business-casual and get away with it. Coming out of a year-long pandemic either left you itching to put on your favorite party dress to go out or it made you realize that your heart lies with sweats and t-shirts, and you would rather never wear jeans or heels again. This is why Adam Sandler-Core is perfect for anyone wishing to avoid the pressures of looking as glammed up as a Kardashian but still following a hot summer trend.
